Someone once said that a pair of shoes can change your life...Just ask Cinderella! Well, now you can help change the lives of others by donating your unwanted large size ‘high heels’ to DEBRA Ireland. DEBRA Ireland is a national Irish charity set up to raise awareness of and offer support to patients and families affected by the rare genetic skin condition, Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). This is a very distressing and painful disorder which causes the skin layers and internal body linings to separate and blister at the slightest touch. Fundraising and donations are vital so that DEBRA Ireland can fund services for patients and families. This September 13th DEBRA Ireland is holding a one mile High Heel Challenge around Deer Park, Stillorgan. This is where you come in! The walk is for both men and women and they must wear high heels. The idea behind this is to bring to mind the pain experienced by EB patients on a daily basis and to show that walking a mile in high heeled shoes is nothing compared to that. We need you to send us your unwanted larger sized high heels, in sizes 8 and up for the male walkers and help change the lives of the families and sufferers of EB. We will have a drop off point for your shoes at our store in Stephens Green Shopping Centre, Grafton St, Dublin. We would like to thank you in advance for your help in supporting this very worthy charity. Put your best foot forward and help us walk towards a cure for EB. Enquiries about drop off points or general queries about the shoe drive can be made to info@cinderellashoes.net or 057 933 3873. To get a better insight into the condition Epidermoylsis Bullosa (EB), below is a link to a short 3 minute clip taken from a documentary shown on RTÉ last year, called “This is Me - Touched by a Butterfly", in which we meet Claudia, an amazing 4 year old who has EB.
